Are you thinking about getting Botox® treatment for the first time, but have concerns about the procedure? The article discusses everything you need to know about Botox®
How does Botox® work?
Using an ultra-fine syringe, the selected areas are injected with Botox®. This medication is known as a neuromodulator (a form of botulinum toxin type A). It functions by temporarily inhibiting the nerve signals required for the contraction of facial muscles; hence the injected muscles cannot contract.
This causes wrinkles to relax. You will still retain some muscle movement and full sensation if the treatment area. After injection, the neuromodulator causes the muscles to relax and move less, which lessens the appearance of wrinkles or lines in the area. After the injection, your outcomes will start to become apparent over 5 to 7 days, with full results at 2weeks.
Is Botox® painful?
Botox® procedure almost painless. The needle is the size of an eyelash and pain is minimal. Most people only experience a brief pinch of discomfort during the injection, which disappears as it is finished.
How soon will I see the results?
In general, patients can anticipate experiencing the benefits of Botox® treatment as soon as 5-7 days following injection. However, the full results of this anti-aging treatment take 10 to 14 days.
How long does Botox® last?
The effects of Botox® usually last three to four months as the treated muscles gradually begin to work again as the body metabolizes the Botox® . Maintenance sessions should be scheduled every three to four months, for ongoing prevention of deep facial lines.
When should I start getting Botox®?
Botox® can be used at any age; there is neither a right nor a wrong time.
